Privacy Policy — USCIS Case Tracking

Effective date: August 17, 2026

This document describes how we handle data for the Case Tracking feature on the ImmigrantNews website (immigrantnews.pro).

What data we store

Only what you enter yourself: your USCIS receipt number, an optional label, your consent flag, the timestamp of your last check, and your reminder setting. We store your user_id and the time the record was added for security (to record who added the number).

What we do NOT do

We do not request or store your USCIS account password — ever. We do not contact USCIS on your behalf and we do not store your case status: the “Check on USCIS” button opens the official USCIS page in your browser, and USCIS itself shows the result.

Retention

Records are kept until you delete them. If an account becomes inactive and is deleted, the associated tracking records are deleted automatically (cascaded by user_id).

Deletion

In the “Case Tracking” section, the “Delete permanently” button erases the record from our database permanently and immediately (not a “soft” hide — the row is physically deleted). “Stop tracking” only deactivates the record, leaving it with you; full deletion is a separate button.

Access and disclosure

Tracking data is visible only to you (database-level protection, RLS); it is not shared with third parties.

Important privacy warning

The receipt number is the only key to a case status on the public USCIS page; anyone who knows the number can view the status (this is how USCIS itself works). Track only your own case, or the case of a person who has explicitly given consent. We ask you to confirm this with a checkbox, but we cannot technically verify ownership of the number.

Terms for this module

  • The tracking service is provided “as is”; we do not guarantee the accuracy or availability of USCIS data — USCIS itself shows it.
  • Using the service to monitor other people’s cases without their consent is prohibited.
  • We may limit the number of tracked cases per account (currently 5).
